The winery is located in the municipality of Hainfeld in the Palatinate. The family history goes back 350 years. A Wolf Klein was mentioned in a document when he bought a vineyard on ‘12.ten. Augusti anno 1659’. The winery in its present form was founded by Georg and Katharina Klein and has been in its original location since 1886. Today it is run by Gerhard and Sieglinde Klein in the fifth generation. The vineyards cover 16 hectares of vines.
In many ways the Gerhard Klein winery reflects the recent history of the Southern Palatinate.
The two children (Peter and Bärbel) have gained experience in Italy and Austria and, inspired by their time abroad, are turning the winery around to achieve the highest quality standards.
This Pinot Gris shows wonderful apple aromas on the nose. It impresses on the palate with its fine melting flavour and slightly nutty nuances.
The S on the label stands for ‘something special’ at the winery. The winemaker himself says: ‘This is a muscle game. The vines are 53 years old, deep and elegant with a long finish.’
